Reglet/Retrofit Instructions
Home / ProFlash Home / Back to Roofing Prod.
Step 1
Place Reglet style counter flashing against chimney sides and mark along top. This will become your guide mark for cutting the slots. Note: Leave a small gap between bottom and shingles.
Reglet Style
Instructions
Reglet style Proflash has a built-in spring flange and is designed to be cut into existing masonry. The spring flange compresses into the chimney providing a water tight seal. This is a common practice in the roofing trades, although you may want to consult your building codes for compliance.
Step 2
Note: Always ensure slots are free from debris before inserting Reglet. Masonry anchors may be painted to match color of Reglet or place a dab of caulk over anchor.
Step 3
Seal all cracks and crevices with a durable caulk. Check ends and seal if necessary. Check periodically for leaks and re-seal if needed.

Step 1
Place Retrofit style counter flashing against chimney sides and mark along top. This will become your alignment mark for attaching the flashings. Note: Leave gap between shingles and metal.
Retrofit Style
Instructions
Retrofit style dressings are designed to be anchored over the chimney instead of Reglet style which is cut into the chimney. Once installed, a durable bead of caulk is used to seal the top edge against water and ice seepage. Always consult your building codes for compliance.
Step 2
In most cases, it is easiest drilling through the flashing and into the mortar joints which intersect with the fastening area of the flashing. Check the fastener instructions for further details.
Step 3
With all flashings installed, fill in the top notch area with a durable caulk. As moisture runs down the chimney, the caulk forces it to run over the flashing and down the roof.
