Step 1. Using building codes, install shingles up to base of chimney and notch out to fit. Keep tar-line as close as possible to the base of chimney to ensure base flashing coverage.
Step 2. Extend base flashing 3-4 inches past either end of chimney. Remove notches as shown and bend tabs around to sides of chimney. Place nails into roof portion only.
Step 3.Bend step flashing as shown and position over shingle and base flashing. Remove notch. Bend tab around to front. Nail into roof portion only. Seal under step flashing with caulk if desired.
Step 4. Continue installing step flashings and shingles until tar-line clears back. Trim step flashing and bend tab around to back wall. Set roof portion of step flashing into sealant and nail to roof only.
Step 5. Extend cricket flashing 3-4 inches past either end of chimney. Mark and cut along crease as shown and bend tabs around to sides of chimney. Place nails into roof portion only.
Step 6. Align position of counter flashings around chimney. Leave a 1 inch gap between bottoms of counter flashings and shingles. Mark placement along top edge of each piece.
Step7. During this phase of the installation, all fastening will be into the chimney using masonry fasteners of your choice. In most situations, it will be easier to drill and nail into mortar joints.
Step 8. To complete the installation, apply solid bead of durable caulk around top notch (designed to support the caulk). Check entire installation for possible water infiltration and fix accordingly.
Reglet Installation Instructions (continued)
Step 9. Align counter flashing reglets around chimney and mark along top perimeter with a chalk-line (see dotted line). Ensure placement prior to the next step.
Step 10. Note: Spring flange is designed to compress while being inserted into slot. Use care not to mar the finish. Use small dab of caulk, or touch-up paint to cover fasteners.
Step 11.To complete the reglet installation, apply firm bead of durable caulk into all cracks and crevices. Use care to maintain beauty of installation. Check all ends to ensure water-tightness.
